Angelina Jolie, originally Angelina Jolie Voight (born on the 4th of June 1975 in Los Angeles, California) is an American actress, director and producer who is well-known for her sex appeal , as also her humanitarian work. She was awarded an Academy Award for her supporting role as a mental patient in Girl, Interrupted (1999).Jolie, daughter of actor Jon Voight, spent much of her growing up in New York before relocating to Los Angeles at age 11. After having attended the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute for two years, she then began her studies at Beverly Hills High School. She then studied acting at New York University. She also appeared in theatre productions and modelled for music videos. It was during Hackers (1995) when Jolie met Jonny Lee Miller, a British actor (married 1996; divorcing 1999). The film didn't find an audience, which was the case for the subsequent films. In 1997, however, Jolie was the subject of much interest as the wife of Alabama's segregationist governor in the film George Wallace, and she later won the Golden Globe Award for her performance. The following year she played an ultramodel who was suffering from addiction issues in the HBO movie Gia and it was a role that brought her numerous awards as well as a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award. She starred with John Cusack in Pushing Tin in 1999. In the next year, she got married to Thornton (divorced in 2003). She played the girlfriend of the carjacker (Nicolas Cage) in Gone in Sixty Seconds (2000) and later changed her accent to the British accent and mastered combat sports and street fighting for the roles of the title in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001) and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life (2003). Jolie played Alexander's mother in Oliver Stone’s Alexander in 2004 and she also appeared alongside Jude Law and Gwyneth paltrow in Sky Captain: The World of Tomorrow the thriller about science fiction set in 1930s New York City. Both films were disappointing in terms of box-office revenue, however Jolie's Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005) was an enormous success. Jolie played a character pretending to be a normal householdwife as she worked on the movie. Brad Pitt became her partner.
